Aging Nurse workforce Essay -- Employment, Nursing Worforce, Retiremen

An assortment of theoretical systems were utilized to explore the maturing nursing workforce. The hypothetical model of Organizational and Personal Factors and Outcomes, created by Schaefer and Moos (1991), was one setting utilized during this audit of writing. This structure proposes that the individual framework just as work stressors influence the relationship between the authoritative framework and work confidence and execution (Atencio, Cohen, and Gorenberg, 2003). This model proposes that the individual framework just as work stressors impact the relationship including the hierarchical plan and work resolve and execution. Occupation stressors joined with authoritative and singular framework factors actuate adapting reactions and the aftereffect of holding the more seasoned medical attendant (Schaefer and Moos, 1991). Another hypothetical model utilized was the Conceptual Model of Intent to Stay by Boyle et al. (1999). This model portrays four factors that shape a nurse’s plan to remain in work. These factors comprise of authority attributes, nurture qualities, framework attributes, and work qualities. The essential fixation for this model was to explore the impact that authority uniqueness has on a nurse’s expectation to remain utilized as opposed to resigning. The results demonstrated that power over nursing practice, situational stress, and the supervisor attributes effectsly affected more seasoned medical attendant goal to stay utilized (Cranley and Tourangeau, 2005). Karasek and Theorell’s Demand-Control Model (1990) was an extra theoretical structure noted in the audit of writing on the maturing nursing workforce. This portrayal suggests that extreme employment strain and dynamic open door adds to work pressure and lead... ...parture from the nursing calling or retirement from the profession. A few key components have been set up all through the examination that lead to proposals medical attendants wanting to resign and include: burnout, physical requests, emotional wellness, linkage to the association, hours worked, hierarchical culture, work force, and financial prerequisites. Associations are starting to set up proof based techniques with an end goal to hold more established enrolled attendants. HR are starting to define approaches and techniques to address the issues of these maturing medical attendants, which center around their security, feelings of anxiety, favored work setting, timetable, and employment fulfillment. The capacity to defer retirement of these medical attendants or making profession ways that help encourage a change to an alternate work setting could help facilitate the deficiency of medical caretakers in the following decade.

The more centered, empathetic, respectful and complete the process is, the higher the levels of satisfaction are expected. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime Free Essays

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime is a 2003 novel written by the British author Mark Haddon. It won the 2003 Whitbread Book of the Year, and the Commonwealth Writers’’ Prize for best first book. Christopher, fifteen-year-old boy with behavioral problems, lives with his father in Swindon, England. We will write a custom essay sample on The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime or any similar topic only for you Order Now His mother has been dead for over 2 years. He discovers the dead body of Wellington, the neighbor’s dog, speared by a garden fork, and Christopher decides to write a mystery murder novel about the dog. One day his father found the book and hide it from him, and when Christopher goes for a search he finds a bunch of letters directed to him from his mother. With the letters he realizes that his mom is not dead and she had left them. His dad confesses that he was the one who had killed the dog, and because of that Christopher left his house with the fear of being killed by his dad, he goes to London to find his mother. After reunited with his mother they return to Swindon, where he takes his A-level exam and get an A grade. The book ends with Christopher optimistic about his future, having solved the mystery of the murdered dog, gone to London on his own, found his mother, written a book, and achieved an A in his A-level math’s exam. The book takes part in England; only two different cities were visited, London and Swindon. The book starts in Swindon, where Christopher lives with his father, the same places were he finds the dead dog and stars his murder mystery novel. When Christopher finds out that her mother was living in London and that she was not dead he was very confused: â€Å"Mother had never lived in London† (98) that was when he just read the first letter and did not knew what to think. That is why he goes to London. The time of the book is in the end of the 20th century and we are able to know because of the dates inside the letters. However in my opinion the setting is not very important in this book. The main character of the story is Christopher and he is the one telling the story. â€Å"My name is Christopher John Francis Boone. I know all the countries of the world and their capital cities and every prime number up to 7,057† (2). He is a very interesting character; he has Asperger Syndrome, which is a type of autism. Because of that it is very difficult to find out what he is thinking, however the author is able to interpret it very good. There are many other characters in the story but in my opinion the next most important is his father. He treats Christopher really nice, even though his syndrome. He is a very good father but he sometimes looses his patience and reacts explosively. In the other hand Christopher’s mother is another important part of the story, but she appears later on in the book. She is a good mother, loving Christopher very much, but she thinks that she is not, that is the reason she fled. The style in the book is very important, because there was a lot of effort in the writing. He interprets the point of view of the autistic boy very precise. â€Å"Haddon worked with autistic individuals† (0) making its work with a deep meaning and very accurate to a real autistic boy. More over the book is written in 1st person from beginning to end: â€Å"It was seven minutes after midnight. † (1) Evidence about it being written in 1st person. The main idea of the book is to create and accurate point of view of the life of a boy with Asperger syndrome. Haddon is able to do it; he was able to do a very deep search into the mind of an autistic boy by studying them and working with them personally. The moral of the story is that people with Asperger syndrome are normal, even though they look different. They have feelings and they are very smart, the difference is that they have really bad social skills and have problems connecting ideas and a several behavioral problems: â€Å"These are some of my behavioral problems A) No talking to people for a long time F) smashing things when I am angry or confused O) hitting other people† (47) Christopher talking about his behavioral problems, it is very curious how he has them very clearly in his mind but keeps doing them. The idea of the book is very important and is well interpreted, creating a clear view of it and the moral. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is a very interesting novel, filled with exciting changes in the story and a unexpected end. However I thought it was very slow at the beginning and the middle, making it a little boring in some chapters. Haddon does interpret amazingly the mind of an autistic boy, which in my opinion is one of the best parts of the book. It is very easy to read and that makes it good for bad readers. In an overall view I did like this book and would recommend it to others. How to cite The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Papers

Internet vs Newspaper free essay sample

Some time after the Internet is emerging fast prospect of the print paper had its days numbered. It is anticipated the time when all the news of the world would come to each of us only via digital. Despite the emergence of iPad and other tablet devices that are so increasingly pronounced in the market which, in fact, become more mobile and information, especially more complete, comprehensive and current, the truth is that the paper will continue. Still going to have to spend many decades to be dispensed to feel the flip of the newspaper or magazine. Therefore, I would say that there will be a share of quotas. Bigger to the paper. But, the media on paper will have to reinvent themselves in order to continue using the same platform. Moreover, the paper does not break, nor the hard information is lost and disappears, or needs energy to charge to permitting a device connected to access the news. It is so since the first newspapers were published as the first in English, the London Gazette, which appeared in 1666 in England.

Asias Sleeping Giants essays

Asias Sleeping Giants essays China and Japan: Asias Sleeping Giants Of all regions in the world aiming for a bright future, none is closer to that goal than Asia. Asia, also known as the sleeping giant accounts for over sixty percent of the earths population with China holding a large amount of the sixty percent. Economically, Japan is in the forefront of the world with only the United States leading them in the category of Gross National Product (GNP). Both Japan and China are looked upon by a great number of people as future leaders of the world. What is remarkable about that statement is the fact that the two nations, while they might have commonalties, are so different. Some might assume that two nations in the same region cannot possibly have so many contrasting traits, but in the case of China and Japan, this is the case. Both China and Japan do have characteristics that they share such as culture and religion. The similarities end though when speaking about the health care system, the economy and the government of both future superpowers. The health care system in China is one of the worst in the entire world. One would think that a nation who has been granted Most Favored Nation status by the United States would be able to provide their people with adequate health care. The fact is that the Chinese government does not have the funds to supply adequate health care to their over-populated nation. Moreover, the government in China faces the difficult task of whether or not to stress the quality of care to the Chinese people or to spread their medical resources to as many people as possible without the emphasis on high quality care. China does have a health insurance system in place that provides free coverage for people employed in urban state enterprises. The problem with the insurance system is that eighty percent of Chinas workers work in rural a...

Farid Ud-Din Attar. The Conference of the Birds Essay - 2

Farid Ud-Din Attar. The Conference of the Birds - Essay Example A good illustration of how the context of the story helps to clarify the meaning is shown in the case of when the hoopoe is telling the tale of a poor fisher boy whom King Mas’oud befriends. Later when the king upon casting the boy’s line successfully lands a sizeable catch, he then gives to the boy. The next day the king decides to make the boy a partner to his throne The story is taken from a religious allegory and can be interpreted probability to be a fable regarding God’s grace. However once we put the story into its real context the allegory gains more prominence. The hoopoe had just been asked by a bird why he is spiritually flourishing unlike the other birds that seem to be getting nowhere (Williams 49). The hoopoe explains that this is so because Solomon has glanced at him. The Hoopoe tells the birds that this glance is worth far more than prayer but continues to explain that this does not mean that an individual does not need to pray, but rather one should continue to pray continuously until Solomon glances at him. In this story of the fisher boy, we see that the boy has been unceasingly fishing (in the same spot every day, which represents the spiritual â€Å"fishing† of constant prayer (Williams 51). According to the Hoopoes previous explanation, the king’s visit is the glance of Solomon. This story is mostly demonstrative of individual effort and grace plus the reality that both are indispensable for spiritual advancement (Davis, 8). The point of a tale may at times seem rather elusive at the first reading; therefore, it is advisable to read it again or to refer to some previous text to remind you what the question being answered by the hoopoe is. This case with the stories resembles the story of the king and the fisher boy from which we got our excerpt. Throughout the poem, two themes in particular are intricately interwoven into the very fiber of the poem. These are the need to destroy the Self, and the weight

Alabama Immigation Law Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Alabama Immigation Law - Essay Example Hence, illegal immigrants even though not entitled to public benefits are given equal access for the simple reason that there is presumption that they are present in the US legally. The main thrust of the Act is to give jobs and services where these are due—particularly US citizens—to satisfy their needs before illegal aliens. It is also intended to create a fair living environment for legal citizens and immigrants whom must be accorded sole access to the basic necessities and to live the American dream, namely—decent job, pay, health care, education and other services that taxpayers work hard for. It is the task of this paper to examine the effects of the Act in general. Understandably, the purpose of the law is laudable as basic social services are now exclusively reserved to legal residents. This is in accordance with the fundamental reason for the existence of government—to provide its legal residents decent living conditions as well as to protect them from harm. However, the Act, despite its seemingly protective characteristics, is strongly opposed even by its legal residents not only as it curtails civil liberties but the economic benefits touted for is far from happening. By virtue of the Act, legal residents are prohibited from transacting or doing business with illegal immigrants. The prohibition comes with the threat of criminal prosecution should they employ, house, transact or otherwise enter into a contract with illegal immigrants. Even simple acts of kindness or humanitarian actions in favor of illegal immigrants come within the purview of the prohibition which means criminal liability against the legal residents failing to verify an individual’s immigration status before extending the needed help or assistance. This oppressive Act led to the massive exodus of migrant workers to other parts of the US with more lenient immigration laws leaving farm lands, construction sites and other entities requiring hard labor without dedicated, skilled and reasonably paid workers. The lack of manpower is one of the most noticeable effects of the stern immigration law. The requirement of nationalization or legal documentation before being accepted for employment ushered economic slowdown instead of a booming economy. According to an article published by the Immigration Policy Centre entitled "Bad for Business: How Alabama's Anti-Immigration Stifles State Economy", the new law has already caused untold hardship for Alabama's business and citizens. Alabama is predominantly an agricultural state that employs a large amount of labor force. (American Immigration Council) Callous hands and people willing to get their hands dirty are conditions for employment. In 2010 alone, unauthorized immigrants comprise 4.2% or 95000 workers; (American Immigration Council) and as a result of the new law, undocumented residents have crippled the operation of local businesses as they had to flee to other places for the fear of getting caught. Interestingly, one of the main purposes of the Act is to provide employment for unemployed Americans however its valiant purpose is defeated as only few Americans have signed up to take the

Lord of the Flies :: Free Essay Writer

Lord of the Flies Literature versus Hollywood Many novels are such successful sellers that producers can’t wait to put the story onto the big screen. Most of the time the original novel is much better than the movie because it is able to capture the characters true emotions. In the novel â€Å"The Lord of the Flies† William Golding was trying to capture the reader’s imagination. Overall the novel is better then the movie because it has a better description of the characters thoughts and feelings. Symbolically it allows the reader to grasp the concepts that are not relevant throughout the movie. Unlike the novel, the movie is unable to capture the true essence of each character. This occurs because when something is transferred from writing into a production there is not enough time to portray each character in exact detail. In the novel Piggy is treated as the â€Å"Outsider†, but in the film the audience doesn’t clearly see his true emotions. Other characters such as Simon and Roger are portrayed in full detail in the novel, but in the movie they hardly appear at all. The movie failed to show Simon as a â€Å"Christ† figure, and Roger’s evil nature. Since the movie was not able to give the audience more information about the characters, their roles and emotions, it is not effective in giving a clear â€Å"picture†. The author’s use of symbols in the novel gives the reader more insight into the story. The novel depicts the most important messages. For example, Piggy’s glasses represent civilization, but once they are destroyed it shows how the boys no longer find anything wrong with their actions. Civilization begins to fade, and eventually it becomes a memory. Another symbol is the dead parachutist, the boys are letting their inner â€Å"Beast† slowly prevail, and you begin to see how real their evil spirits are coming. Little, by little the boys are turning devilish, but they don’t seem to realize the consequences of their action. One event which plays a significant role in the novel is Simon’s death. The boys have crossed the border of civilization to such a level, that they no longer recognize one another, and are killing ferociously, like savages. In the novel all of these symbols and events develop the plot, but in the film version the thoughts are very u nclear, and most are left out. Some similarities between the movie and the novel are that the characters are all involved.

The challenge of food scarcity

Our world today is facing an extreme increase of food shortage and that happened when the food produce is not enough that can automatically threaten and shake the lives of millions of people, food scarcity could also be due to the rapidly rising human population that as a matter of fact Just had doubled over the year.Furthermore, the fact that we don't have any idea on what maximum number of people the world will continue to support and feed, that lead us to questioning if there is enough food for everyone in the future and a solution to end hunger and other problems that comes along with. Moreover, there are still many different reasons or factors of why people are starving in the different areas over the world, the lack of economic Justice and rising population are Just merely two examples out of them all and made people struggle to get enough food to eat. On the other hand, Majority of the globe's population especially the youth tends to Just ignore the issue of hunger, or are simp ly blindsided by events as today's economic crisis. We seem and tends to be a creatures f crisis.Rather than accepting the possibility that serious problems are Just over the horizon and is happening, we choose to look for any hope of positive information to ease our fears, but the fact is that hunger is a big problem in the world today and It is equally important that people should inform and get their selves involve on the issue about food scarcity so that they will know who are the ones truly suffering and the serious damage it does to those people. And also for them to avoid on wasting food, because all the extra food can't be Just given out to the needy and hungry entries, but if it could the government still don't have enough transportation and the money to send all those extra food to the suffering people. Every one of us must take food scarcity seriously because the solution for solving hunger and scarcity calls for the cooperation of everybody. Furthermore, As an Internation al student it is essential that we include world food hunger in our studies for it is directly interconnected on global politics and issues. For in International studies we educate ourselves and participates on programs of Globalization and development. Also, we must not only study but to also get ourselves involve in helping how to eradicate world hunger by helping in our own little ways those people and communities who are struggling with such problems that are cause by food shortage, for them to be able to develop ways to sustain their way of life, is the main goal of an International studies student. Remember Great things comes from small beginnings. To answer the questions why people are continuing to starve to death, we need to know first about the history of food production; how it contributes on the food we produce, goes the process of food production prohibit or even more promotes hunger? Second, we need to understand that the image that we get from the media can be very misl eading and sometimes not the truth and tends to show only a portion of what was really happening, so we must explore and research to be informed in the current reality so that we can come up and make better solutions. On the other hand, even if hunger is inevitable, we know, beyond any shadow of doubt, that there is a remedy for our world's situation and the earth can and able to feed its inhabitants. And there are many ways on how we can do it, like giving and improving aid and providing equipment and materials to the poor and underdeveloped countries needed for their agriculture, for these countries especially on the Global south, have the land and water to grow but they lack the knowledge, money and technology to make their resources fruitful.By also slowing the increasing of oil prices and usage of bio fuel so that the food price escalation can be somehow prevented because when the costs of essential foods rise, it can then dramatically affect those people who are lying on food p rices because bio fuels hurt the developing countries the most.Furthermore, the Government should promote and implement alternatives which don't disrupt the food supplies and if possible the Government should also increase the incomes of the poor instead so that they can buy their food, this is much better than keeping incomes and prices low. The solutions to the present crisis mention above can help eradicate food shortage and hunger and save the world at the same time, humanity must confront all the issues which can no longer be ignore because globally the effects will spread.

Blood Pressure Definition and First Aid Basics

Ever noticed how a hose spouting water in your favorite Saturday-morning cartoon always looked like it was a snake vomiting footballs? Despite the fact that the water coming out of the end of the hose was running smoothly, its still a pretty good representation of how blood flows through our veins: in waves that we call pulses. The Pressure of the Blood Blood pressure is the force  exerted against blood vessel walls by the blood as it flows through them. Because of the way arteries and veins are used by the circulatory system, arterial walls are much thicker and withstand higher pressures than venous walls do. Arteries have the ability to expand and constrict much more than veins can, which is necessary to adjust blood pressure. Because they exert that control, they have to be sturdy. When we measure blood pressure, we are measuring the pressure in the arteries. Usually, we measure the pressure in the brachial artery, although it is possible to measure blood pressure in other arteries as well. Blood pressure is manually measured using a stethoscope to listen blood flow turbulence, a cuff to constrict blood vessels enough to stop the flow, and a sphygmomanometer (big, fancy word for a pressure gauge and a squeeze bulb).   Electronic blood pressure monitors dont need humans (other than the one theyre testing) or stethoscopes. There are plenty of blood pressure monitors in homes today. If you have a blood pressure monitor or are considering buying one, you may be wondering what exactly blood pressure is and if you should monitor it. Why Does It Matter? Anyone who has left the water on in the garden has seen the hole that rushing water can make under pressure. That erosion can also happen in the body if high blood pressure is not treated. High blood pressure can also lead to strokes and aneurysms. An aneurysm is a weak spot in an artery that swells until it bursts, and hypertension makes that process happen faster. The Pulse Blood does not flow smoothly through arteries. Instead, it surges through the arteries each time the heart beats. That surge is known as the pulse and is easily felt through arteries in the wrist and neck. Even though blood is surging through the blood vessels, there is pressure on the vessels at all times. Indeed, the pulse we feel is really the difference between the pressure exerted against the arterials walls during the hearts rest and during the hearts contractions. Why an Upside Down Fraction? When blood pressure is measured, we commonly record the pressure as two numbers, one above the other,  like a fraction. The difference between a fraction and a blood pressure is that the top number of a blood pressure is always higher than the bottom number (example: 120/80). The top number is the systolic blood pressure. This is the pressure in the artery during the beating of the heart (systole). This is the pressure that creates the pulse we feel in the wrist or neck. The bottom number is the diastolic blood pressure. This is the pressure that is always in the artery, even when the heart is resting between beats (diastole).
